About Velvet Opus

Created in 2020, Velvet Opus is a female-led book site dedicated to uplifting female authors and stories that have strong female representation. We believe in good stories, however they’re published, and spotlight non-traditionally published authors in our Indie Spotlight.

We also value diversity in writing and storytelling and support POC and LGBT+ authors and stories.

Support the blog by buying books from our depop bookshop.

About the Founder

Rebecca is a freelance writer from the UK.

She graduated with a law degree and spent seven years as an in-house commercial paralegal for various companies drafting contracts and being an all-around legal eagle.

Her passion for reading led her to create her own book blog, writing book reviews and bookish articles.

After writing for Velvet Opus for a year, she decided to give up full-time employment and pursue freelancing.

As of June 2021, Rebecca became a full-time freelance writer and part-time solver of legal problems. She can be found searching the internet for writing gigs, explaining complex legal terms in plain English and working from home in her comfiest jeans with a cup of tea, or two.

Find Rebecca on Twitter and Instagram.

If you’re looking for a bookish writer, or need some help with your contracts or contract admin get in touch at rebecca@velvetopus.com.

Review Requests

We love stories that are, quite simply, a bit magical. We welcome review requests from authors and publishers and are open to blog tours. Rebecca gets ARCs from Netgalley and reviews on goodreads.
